What We Do
Samaritan Daytop Foundation was created in 1979 as the fundraising, housing development, and real estate arm of Samaritan Daytop Village. Its goal is to raise critical funds to help expand the vast array of Samaritan Daytop Village and Health programs and services.
From humble beginnings to national inspiration, Samaritan Daytop Village had one mission in mind when it opened its doors in 1960: To make a difference during a deadly heroin epidemic. That mission evolved over the years to respond to new epidemics, a homeless crisis, systemic racism, and a pandemic. Samaritan Daytop Village continues to adapt, grow, and thrive to ensure the health and wellbeing of New Yorkers.
Samaritan Daytop Village has become one of the largest health and human services agencies, serving 43,000 clients at over 80 programs and facilities throughout New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley.
Through a rich array of specialized health and human services, Samaritan Daytop Village brings lifesaving and life-changing services to men and women, adolescents, veterans, older adults, mothers and babies, the unhoused, and families.
